ACTION Health bids farewell to our dedicated AmeriCorps members
ACTION Health staff, board members and task force members gathered to bid farewell to 2 of our departing AmeriCorps members, Michael Habegger and Jeremy Stetler. The good news is that Lorri Perkins, also an AmeriCorps member, will be serving for an additional year as an AmeriCorps member at ACTION Health.
A luncheon was held on Monday, August 10, 2009 to celebrate the accomplishments of each of our AmeriCorps volunteers over the last year. Attendees enjoyed spending time with our volunteers before their departure and recounting the successes of the last year. The staff and board presented each AmeriCorps volunteer with an engraved clock to commemorate their service for ACTION Health.
Michael Habegger, who is beginning graduate school at Virginia Tech later this month, has worked with ACTION Health since August 2008. His major accomplishments include designed the new ACTION Health logo, independent construction & implementation of this new website, along with work with the food bank project, HPV/cervical cancer programming, board committee initiatives, school-based dental programs and various other health-related programs.
Jeremy Stetler’s time with ACTION Health was shorter, but still successful, as he began in May 2009 as a summer volunteer. His major accomplishments include conducting numerous sun safety programs, water safety programs, and assisting the Cancer task force with skin cancer outreach.
We are very fortunate that Lorri Perkins has chosen to stay at ACTION Health for one additional year. She began with ACTION Health in October 2008 and has worked diligently on school-based dental programs, fitness programs, assistance with the PennSIVE study, creation of grand-parenting programs and play-date safety programs, and various other health-related programs.
ACTION Health is so thankful to each of our dedicated members for the commitment to improving the health of our communities. For more information about the AmeriCorps program, please visit www.coresusquehanna.org.
